This kumihimo plate is the Hamanaka Plate created by Makiko Tada and made in Japan. The material is 3/8" (1cm) thick dense foam which holds the threads/yarns securely, keeping consistent tension for even, beautiful braids. Makiko Tada has developed some very contemporary braids for this piece of equipment.
